Anybody watch this show? I caught it last night and it was pretty good. Bruce was TOTALLY my favorite part!!! :-)

I have to admit, he was a much bigger character than I thought he would be. I thought it would just be a few cameos or something, but he was in the whole episode and it looks like he'll be there all season.

Can't wait to see more of him!!!!

I just finished this game on Playstation and was really impressed. First off, they captured the look and feel of an Evil Dead movie and that's the most important thing. Second, and maybe the best feature, Bruce does all Ash's lines in this game. It great! He must say 800 hundred different things through out the game. Totally campy, totally funny, weird, gorey and beautifully rendered. This game is truly for fans.

... for me, it was on the "If Chins Could Kill" book tour. When I had my chance to sit down and have my book signed, Bruce asked me what I did for a living.

"I'm unemployed right now, and I'm pretty bent out of shape about it."

This kicked off a conversation about unemployment, which he said he could relate to, since actors find themselves hunting for work again at the end of every project. It was a good few minutes of talking, and he made me feel considerably cooler about it all.

He's a cool guy, and that just made my crush so much worse. *sigh*

I subscribe to Production Weekly, which lists projects in development and production. It appears that Bruce Campbell is starring as himself in a new movie called MY NAME IS BRUCE, a comedy about a B-movie actor (guess who?) who is kidnapped from the set of his latest b-movie horror flick and forced to act out the part of his character in real life. It's scheduled to start shooting in March of 2006.

Since it's not shooting yet, things could change -- but it's an amusing premise, I hope it actually works out.

ON ROGER CORMAN:
Corman began his career in 1953 as a producer and screenwriter, and began directing in 1955. Until his so-called "retirement" as a director in 1971 (he continued to produce films even after this date) he would produce up to seven movies a year; his fastest film was perhaps The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), which was reputedly shot in two days and one night.

Roger Corman’s eye for talent and unique abilities as a mentor have launched a number of stellar careers. Graduates of the “Corman film school” include producers Jon Davison and Gale Anne Hurd; writers and writer/directors Robert Towne and John Sayles; actors Sandra Bullock, Charles Bronson, Robert DeNiro, Peter Fonda, Diane Ladd, Jack Nicholson, William Shatner, Talia Shire, Sylvester Stallone and directors Peter Bogdanovich, James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Joe Dante, Jonathan Demme, Carl Franklin, Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese.

ON “THE BIG SLEEP” (1946):
Director Howard Hawks transforms one of Raymond Chandler's best hard-boiled detective mysteries transformed into a film noir classic. It is a complex, logic-defying whodunit with a quintessential private detective (Marlowe), false leads, unforgettable dialogue and wisecracks, raw-edged characters, sexy women, tough action, gunplay, a series of electrifying scenes and screen violence, starring one of the most seductive on-screen couples, Bogie and Bacall.

Be sure and check Bruce Campbell's website, www.bruce-campbell.com, for any possible changes (see "Appearances") and future appearances in your area.

As for the book, it's a satire on the movie industry, coming from the perspective of a self-professed "B-Movie actor", full of Bruce's wit and self-effacing humor. Here's the summary, courtesy of Bruce:

*********

Is this a relationship book? Well, if by “relationship book” you mean that the characters in it have relationships or are related to someone, then yes, absolutely. Will you learn how to pick up chicks? Good heavens, I can only hope so, though for best results in that department you should both read this book and be Brad Pitt.
Is it a sequel to my autobiography, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor? Sadly, no, which made it much harder to write. According to my publisher, I haven't “done” enough since 2001 to warrant another memoir.
Is it an “autobiographical novel”? Yes. I'm the lead character in the story and I'm a real person and everything in the book actually happened, except for all the stuff that didn’t.
Mostly, the action revolves around my preparations for a pivotal role in director Mike Nichols’s A-list relationship film Let's Make Love!, starring Richard Gere, Renée Zellweger, and Christopher Plummer. This is the kind of break most actors can only dream of. But my Homeric attempt to break through the glass ceiling of B-grade genre fare is hampered by a vengeful studio executive and a production that becomes infected by something called the “B movie virus,” symptoms of which include excessive use of cheesy special effects, slapstick, and projectile vomiting.
When someone fingers me as the guy responsible for the virus, thus ruining my good standing in the entertainment industry (hey, I said it was fiction, okay?), I become a fugitive racing against the clock, an innocent patsy battling the shadowy forces of the studio system to clear my name, save my career, and destroy the Death Star. In a jaw-dropping twist worthy of Hitchcock (page 274), you'll gasp as I turn the tables on Hollywood and attempt to salvage my reputation in a town where you’re only as good as your last remake.
From a violent fistfight with a Buddhist to a life-altering stint in federal prison, this novel has it all. If you like John Grisham, Tom Clancy, or one too many run-on sentences, you'll absolutely love Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. And if the 72,444 words are too time-consuming, there are lots and lots of cool graphics.
Regards,
Bruce "Don't Call Me Ash" Campbell

********

Best part is I've heard the audio CD is narrated by Bruce himself! Stop by, meet "The Chin" himself, and support his habit of entertaining us.

Cheers, all!

Hi, I'm new to this group, but not new to Bruce.

I did however hear something quite interesting. I heard he lives in Oregon (I also live in Oregon) but has converted a 727 and lives in it. Because wood is not a very good building material. Anyone hear that? Or are my dreams seeping into wake life again?

Hi from Rendall. And my BC story.

Hello.

Army of Darkness is still one of my favorite movies since it debuted.

I went to see Bubbha Ho-Tep opening night at Angelika here in NYC. As I bought my ticket, I was disappointed to see that, for the 2 previous shows only, Bruce appeared in person for a Q&A before (or was it after?) the movie. Not for the 9 o'clock show, tho.

BUT.

As we were sitting waiting for the movie to start, the Bruce himself came in and had another Q&A! It's a small theater, so it was very personal. So awesome! The fans were so psyched, & there was such a feeling of comraderie.

Some guy heckled him, but Bruce handled it well & we cheered.

Such a genuine guy. I didn't have my usual starstruck reticence. Very down to earth. And a geek, which pleasantly surprised me. Geekiness is always a plus!

Evil Dead 4 (Bruce Campbell is ASH)

I thought that I would pass this on..I thought it was great news!
Personaly I wish they wouldnt redo Evil Dead, because without Bruce Ash is not Ash...

(from Joblo.com)

The folks over at Bloody Disgusting recently got a pretty good scoop regarding the future of the EVIL DEAD franchise. In an interview their correspondent Superheidi did with Raimi, he mentioned "there will be an Evil Dead 4, and there will ALSO be an Evil Dead Remake. The remake will be produced by Ghost House pictures, (his company with Tapert) and it will star a new cast and a completely new director. The point of Ghost House is that we want to bring new directors (like Takashi Shimizu of "the Grudge" to Hollywood and give them a chance to make a good horror film." Further, Raimi will be directing EVIL DEAD 4 with Bruce Campbell coming back as Ash. According to Raimi "this is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original." I know a lot of people are skeptical about this and it may be that Raimi is doing this just for the money but he's a great director who's revisiting a franchise he loves and now with a relatively unlimited budget. You can't go wrong with that. Right?

Bruce is in Fargo.

No shit... I'm serious. When the kidnapers are in the cabin, and Steve Buscemi is pounding on the TV to get it to tune in... BRUCE CAMPBELL IS ON THE TV!!!! Really. He did a Soap Opera called "Generations" in Chicago (at least I think it was Chicago). Anyway, that's the soap on TV while Steve is banging the top. Bruce is right there on the screen.

IIRC, one of the Coen Bro's was assistant film editor on Evil Dead I or something (which is how he got the Hudsucker gig I assume).

Fuck I have too much time on my hands...

So I just wanted to say howdy and mention the cool thought I had yesterday. Kmart is buying Sears. Now at first this doesn't mean much, but I soon realized that this is the best merger that could ever happen. If KMart were intelligent about renaming the company we could all soon be hearing, "Shop smart, shop SMart."

1/4 of our American Soldiers are in Iraq unprotected. There is a severe funding shortage and they are walking the streets without body armor. My sister will be deployed soon. I ask for your help now in protecting her. Anything you can donate (even if it's only a dollar) would be appreciated. My plan is to buy body armor and have it shipped to her. If she happens to be one of the lucky ones to have it, I will ask that she pass it on to someone else in need.

Saw 'Shaun of the Dead' over the weekend and it was excellent! Listen very close...I'm not going to spoil any of the movie for you, but there is mention of Ash...
The director/co-writer was there at the sneak preview I went to doing a Q&A session after the film and he was questioned about it. Apparently, they are huge Raimi/ED fans and it wasn't just coincidence! It opens this weekend...go see it! It's a great movie!!! http://www.shaunofthedeadmovie.com/splash.html

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=794&e=5&u=/eo/14746

According to a news report on Yahoo.com:

Days after the pairing of rival screen monsters in Alien vs. Predator topped the weekend box office, E! has confirmed filmmaker Sam Raimi is in talks with New Line Cinema about loaning the studio the zombie slayer from his Evil Dead movies to costar in a three-way, big-screen bout, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.

New Line has been looking for a way to sequelize its 2003 hit Freddy vs. Jason since even before the movie grossed $114.3 million worldwide.

A franchise-melding flick on its own, Freddy vs. Jason teamed psycho Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street series with hockey-masked madman Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise.

Last August, Creature-Corner.com reported that New Line was considering Evil Dead's Ash for the lineup of a Freddy vs. Jason 2 project.

In March, Freddy vs. Jason director Ronny Yu told the Website he was interested in corralling the three iconic horror characters.

"I would definitely do it," Yu said on Creature-Corner.com. "They're still working on the script. I haven't seen anything yet. I hope they won't work on it for 10 years."

...but the real jewel is this Talk Of The Nation from a couple of months ago.
The theme of the show was Cult TV and Bruce yacks about Briscoe, Xena, etc.
He was obviously in a great mood, so go geek out!

I just wanted to toot my own horn for a moment. I have been a Bruce fan for many, many years. Right now I am working part-time at a Blockbuster to bring in some extra funds. I have gotten so many people to rent Bubba HoTep in my store that we actually had to stock more copies. Yes, exposing the world to Bruce a little at a time. My evil plot is working.

Best Bruce Story...

Wondered how many of you fine Bruce fans had a favorite (or personal) Bruce moment. I'll get the ball rolling.

Bruce was on a book signing tour and he came to Powells in Portland, Oregon. Powells, it should be noted, had NO CLUE as to Bruce's fanbase and the mass of people that would come to see the man! Lines literally went from the signing area, down the stairs, out the main entrance, and around the block (almost twice).

Bruce began speaking at 6pm and was signing by 7pm. At 10:30 I had finally made it to within one person. As Bruce finished signing that person's book a Powell's manager walked up to him and said:

"We close at 11:00 sir, please limit your conversation time so you can sign for more people".

Bruce asked, "Will I get to sign for everyone"? The manager shook his head and told him "no", that they WOULD be closing at 11:00 and anyone still inside would be asked to leave.

Bruce stood up, looked at the manager and said:

"Listen, these folks paid their good money and stood in the rain to get their books signed and I'll be damned if I turn ANY of them away or sign their books without so much as saying hello and thanks. Now, you find some folks willing to put in some OT cause I'm fucking talking to every last person who is in line".

He then looked me RIGHT in the eye and said, "Right"?!

Shaking, "Damn right, Bruce"

He laughed, "Fuck an A, now had me that book"!

As I left the news of Powells staying open because "The King" demanded it had reached the outside line. The cheers and shouts of fanboys (and girls) could be heard for blocks...

Hail to the King!

VH-1 had a special called "VH1 Goes Inside: Spider Man" that included segments of a Bruce interview on his part in the original, and his role in the sequel. Not much, but pretty amusing , particular his "Sue Me, SSSSSUUUUUUUUEEEEE ME" bit. If you get a chance to record it, it's pretty amusing.

Bubba II Possible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Campbell: Bubba II Possible

Bruce Campbell told SCI FI Wire that a sequel to his cult 2002 independent movie Bubba Ho-tep is a distinct possibility. The horror comedy, based on Joe R. Lansdale's short story, told the story of an aged Elvis Presley (Campbell) and President Kennedy (Ossie Davis) battling a soul-sucking mummy at an old folks' home in Texas. It is about to arrive on DVD.

"At the end of the movie we make a joke that he's coming back as Bubba Nosferatu," Campbell said in an interview. "I honestly think that the odds of a Bubba sequel are as good as the DVD release is wide. If we get on the DVD charts and stay there for a few weeks, you might see another one. But Joe Lansdale is not a big fan of sequels. He may or may not go for it, and I respect that."

Tapping into his inner Elvis was easy, Campbell said. "Everyone's done Elvis," he said. "All men have done Elvis in the shower at some point. Everyone says, 'Thank you. Thank you very much.' But the trick was to play him as a 70-year-old man with no Memphis Mafia, with no hot and cold running babes, without any good health and with some nasty stuff on his penis. So the only thing I had to do was capture him as a bitter old man in a rest home who happens to be Elvis."

MGM Home Entertainment will release a collector's edition Bubba Ho-tep DVD on May 25, which will include deleted scenes, a photo gallery, Lansdale reading from his story and commentary from both Campbell and writer-director Don Coscarelli (the Phantasm film series). The movie grossed more than $1 million at the box office last year. "Bubba was well into profit well before it even got to DVD," Campbell said. "And that's the whole game. With a film this inexpensive, this is all gravy as far as I'm concerned. The real victory was getting Bubba in theaters all across this country, and we managed to do that. So far as avoiding the straight-to-DVD curse, we're miles ahead."

New Movie -The Woods

(from Scifiwire)

Campbell Gets Lost In The Woods

Fan-favorite genre actor Bruce Campbell told SCI FI Wire that he plays a sizeable role in the upcoming supernatural horror film The Woods, directed by Lucky (May) McKee.

"This is his first studio film, for MGM," Campbell said in an
interview. "This is a guy who has very bizarre sensibilities doing a mainstream movie, so it should be interesting."

Agnes Bruckner stars in the film as Heather, whose father (Campbell) and mother (Emma Campbell, no relation) drop off their troubled teen daughter at an all-girls school in the middle of the woods. "I'm now out at that golden age where I get to play all the young heroines' fathers," Campbell joked. "The story is a school girl's worst nightmare come
true. She's being sent off to boarding school, which is horrible enough. And there are all these clichéd fears of what'll happen. You'll get raped or attacked or the woods will get you, and it all happens. So it's this girl's worst nightmare come true."

Campbell added, "I get in on the action a little bit. I come and go. But I actually live, which is amazing. I was fully expecting to die. Agnes has got a very interesting sensibility to her. Patricia Clarkson is the evil headmistress at the school. The film really should be called The Evil Women at the Evil School." The Woods opens Oct. 1.

So, I'm sure I'm not the only one around here who's sent Bruce an email (or two). Let's share what we wrote and what he replied!

Ok, this was many years ago, so I don't remember the exact details. But I wrote him an email saying how watching him on TV made me happy and that he wasn't on TV enough, or something like that. And he replied and said thanks and "Fair enough." Seems kind of strange now, because I don't really remember what he said that in regards to, but it's what stuck in my head.

Fair enough, Bruce!

So, how close does this guy look like Bruce? He's doing movieoke (like karaoke, but with movies and you act out a scene from a movie)...

Does anyone know if a compilation of Brewster County Jr. TV series. The highlight of my brief acting career was auditioning for something else with one of the minor characters,(real name "Tiger" somebody). He didn't want to talk about Bruce...wait a minute, I get it right now as I write this...Bruce/ Brewster! Must be a connection.

Evil Dead movies = guy-flicks?

in a recent conversation, an acquaintance made the statement that the Evil Dead movies were "guy-flicks" - that far more males than females liked them, and thats the audience it was aimed at. I don't see this at all.

the makeup of the evil dead movies & bruce campbell tribes is a bit over 50-50, but not by too much. looks like both are around 60% male. (this might just reflect the general population of tribe though. the tech-lag has almost certainly evened up in the bay area, but in other parts of the world its possible there are still more males online than females)

Evil Dead movies = guy-flicks?
opinions?

I work in the Swatch store in Portland. Yesterday was my day off, unfortunately.....because Bruce Campbell came in & bought a watch. Does anyone know why Bruce is in Portland, OR?? Is he making a movie here? Any insight would be great!

Has anyone seen this evil dead addition. My friend has it in dvd format. It starts out with someone running through the forest (it looks like it's in super 8) real shakey, black and white and it ends up with bruce campbell becoming a zombie. It's freaking awesome. I was wondering if any of you guys had seen it, or know where to get hold of it.

from bruce-campbell.com:

Holy Crap! Bruce Is Writing Another Book!

He dazzled readers in 2001 with his autobiography If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a Bored Movie Actor... oops, I got that wrong. I'll start again...

He dazzled readers in 2001 with his autobiography If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor and wooed them again when he added a chapter a year later which updated his life story since the publication of his life story. His wit, his personality, his fanbase, and his excellent choice in the book's art director made the story of his life a New York Times bestseller. Now, he's busily procrastinating in preparation for writing his second book...

Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way

When he called me several months ago and warned me that he was going to write again and wanted to know if I was interested in doing some more artwork, I thought about the title and became very nervous about what sort of diagrams I would have to draw for this one. Then, he explained that Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way will basically be a humorous look at relationships and books about relationships. I was relieved.

Bruce is scheduled to deliver the manuscript in September and has already started packing for the book tour that will happen in Spring and Summer of 2004.

As always, you'll know what we know several weeks after we know, so keep coming back over the next few months.

---------------------

This is great news. I thoroughly enjoyed his first book. Has anyone else read it?
